Reflecting on 2020

Reflecting on 2020 has become a pastime for many of us as we process all that we have been through.  One thing that stands out to me is the explosive use of online connections such as Zoom and Facebook to share information.  We were designed to interact with one another and the ability to stay connected without meeting in person has been helpful to us all.

As our “15 days to flatten the curve” of COVID is approaching a year, I have learned that I yearn for personal interaction.  Sustained use of masks and social distancing has left me feeling lost and disconnected.  In talking with a few, close friends I have learned that I am not alone in my sense of disconnection.

My husband and I have worked hard to keep our home safe for visitors and open. Though we did have a round of the present virus go through our home, we were able to weather that storm.  Some of our practices are to keep gatherings as small as possible and to ask our guests to stay home if they are not well.  My husband also has an infuser going all the time with helpful essential oils.

It is my hope that 2021 will bring us enough interventions to deliver us from the restrictions we have struggled to live with.  Until then, I encourage you to do what we know is helpful; eat well, stay hydrated, get enough sleep, exercise and get out in the sunshine whenever possible.  If you are like me and need interaction, stay connected online and in person as much as possible.  Have a Happy New Year!
